Dr Clive Lewis
Dr Lewis joined Papworth from Great Ormond Street Hospital in 2006 and specialises in advanced heart failure, cardiothoracic transplantation, ventricular assist devices and adult congenital heart disease.
He qualified in medicine from Cambridge University in 1993 and undertook clinical training at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital.
As part of a multi-disciplinary team, he supports the largest UK heart transplant programme and contributes to research publications in the field. He has a special interest in the health of young people, transition from paediatric services and leads the Papworth service for adult survivors of congenital heart disease. He also has a special interest in medical education and training and is currently Associate Lecturer and Senior Clinical Tutor, Cambridge University, Clinical Tutor at Papworth and clinical lead in Medical Education and Workforce.
Dr Lewis represents Papworth for the Cambridge University Health Partners Education Board, The Evelyn Cambridge Surgical Training Centre and Leadership Clinical Advisor. Nationally, Dr Lewis has held a number of positions, including Council membership of the Royal College of Physicians of London, the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges and Training Committee member of the Postgraduate Medical Education and Training Board. With the Royal College of Physicians, he continues to develop education faculty nationally and internationally. Dr Lewis is also Deputy Medical Director.
